OCEAN STELLAR NEBULAR OUTREACH 2024
A VISIT TO THE CONSTELLATION AT BAB-ES-SALAM HOME
On December 29th, 2024, we had the privilege of visiting the brilliant stars at Bab-es-Salam Home—a heartwarming experience that reminded us of the power of love, leadership, and learning.
Bab-es-Salam Home, a registered orphanage in Lagos, Nigeria, was founded by the late AbdulWahab Folawiyo, a visionary businessman and philanthropist. It stands as a beacon of hope and compassion, committed to its mission: “Giving Every Child a Loving Home and a Brighter Future.” This deeply aligns with Ocean Stellar’s vision—to raise a generation of selfless leaders who positively influence people and culture.
The Home currently cares for 50 incredible children, and it’s evident that they are being nurtured with love, intentionality, and purpose. Staying true to our culture of service, we visited with thoughtfully curated humanitarian supplies tailored to the needs of each child, because every child deserves to feel seen, valued, and supported – Every Child is a Star.
As part of our mission to inspire and nurture future leaders, we had the joy of delivering an interactive leadership session. The energy in the room was electric, filled with curiosity and enthusiasm. When we asked, “What is leadership?” we received answers like:
- – “Leadership is getting people to do what you want.”
- – “Leadership is being the boss.”
- – “Leadership is controlling people and things.”
These responses, while simple, beautifully reflect how children often interpret leadership based on what they observe. Rather than seeing them as incorrect, we embraced them as a starting point—a window into their world. It became an opportunity to gently expand their understanding, guiding them towards a more empowering view of leadership: one rooted in service, selflessness, empathy, and positive influence.
During our Nebular Leadership session, we explored meaningful topics such as self-discovery, personal values, and the essence of true leadership. We highlighted how knowing oneself is the first step to leading oneself—and how that self-leadership blossoms into the kind of leader who positively influences people and culture, not just themselves.
We left Bab-es-Salam inspired—knowing that the future is bright because of stars like them.
